Start the year with reading the Audit Reports of the Kenyan Auditor General, if you find the time.
The County Reports for the financial year 2016/2017 have been finally put online a few weeks ago here on the oagkenya.go.ke-Website. They usually entail a lot more stories than the few that a national newspaper can pick. A good read for any regional journalist who wants to stand out and even participate in the competition for the RoGGKenya Award.
Unfortunately, as we have already pointed out, the online publication of the Audit Reports about the NG-CDF funds for 2016/2017 has been overdue for more than five months after their being tabled at the National Assembly. And, even more seriously, the National Assembly has not had it on its agenda.
If you want to stand out as a media, do a series on old AG reports (which are readily available) and investigate on the basis of specific examples if the respective political bodies (National Assembly, County Assembly, partly the Senate) have taken action and followed-up on them and if the Public Prosecutors have done so.
